Watering New Plantings

It is important to regularly water your newly planted trees, shrubs and perennials.  Water single trees and shrubs by placing a garden hose on a slow drip at the base of the plant, leaving it run for approximately an hour.  Do this every 5-7 days when the weather is dry. For larger plantings you can weave soaker hoses through the beds, allowing them to run for an hour at each watering. If you must use sprinklers, please run them only in the early morning before 10am.  Using sprinklers in the late morning or early afternoon will burn the foliage, and late evening watering can promote fungal growth.

*ESTABLISHED PLANTS TO WATCH* Azaleas, arborvitae, willow and hydrangea sometimes need extra water when the weather is dry and hot.
