Do you have a little one interested in the green thumb? Or perhaps would like them to just get out there and smell the roses? One thing is for sure, we all need to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors more. With technology these days it becomes easy for our society to become too “plugged in.”
Riverview Nursery & Garden Center is proud to offer a new program to help children foster creativity, and nurture their gardening prowess.
Our Junior Gardening Program, for kids 8 to 12 years of age, will begin in January with classes on the first of every month.
The yearlong program will educate young children about our environment and horticulture. Through hands on experience, games, fun activities and projects, children will learn about plants and animals, the seasons and how to live sustainably. And they’ll take part in cultivating an actual garden!
The kids will participate in an array of tasks from seed starting and transplanting in the spring to making sun prints, and scavenger hunts in the summer. They’ll paint pumpkin in fall, and build fairy gardens, terrariums, and ornament in the winter.
Come to ALL of the monthly classes, or just a few. With a membership each child will receive your very own Junior Gardeners “field journal” to take personal notes, record findings, draw, and store achievement awards.
Registration sign-up is required for each class, and the membership fee for the entire year is only $35!
